NFSU2: Demo in OPM2 time-limited! |
Wednesday, 22.09.2004 |
As we reported here, the current issue of the Official Playstation 2 Magazine contains a demoversion of Need for Speed Underground 2.
Actually, the german isse of this magazine has a time-limited demo, where you can only drive around for 3 minutes. According to our users, this is very annoying.
I have no confirmation yet, but I think the NFSU2 demo on Burnout 3 has no time limit. If you buy it, you don't get only the demo, but also a a great racing game too. ;)
Update: As I learned the NFSU2 demo on Burnout 3 unfortunately also has a time limit. But only ten minutes, which is way better than the OPM2 demo. ;)

NFSU2: EA develops a mobile version |
Wednesday, 22.09.2004 |
The press release is quite old, but I thought it would be interesting for you to know this.
Electronic Arts announced the reinforcement of its existing partnership with Digital Bridges, a world leader in the creation and distribution of mobile entertainment solutions.
The games 'FIFA Football 2004 Mobile International Edition' and 'Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2004' were Top 10 in the mobile charts for much of last year, with over one million cumulative paid-for downloads in Europe alone. Building on that momentum, three EA titles are planned for release to mobile platforms in 2004: 'FIFA Football 2005'; 'Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2005' and 'Need for Speed Underground 2'. In addition, a mobile phone version of 'The Sims' will be available in 2005. EA will announce plans for the launch of further mobile titles in the months ahead.

Our affiliate ND4SPDWorld sent an E-Mail with some questions to Electronic Arts, and now got an answer.
Here are the most important facts:
- time and weather changes, which affects the performance
- complex replay mode with good camera angles, possibilty to jump to a point in the replay and a "Special Gameplay Moments" feature
- damage model, which does not affect the performance, due to the onlinemode
- optional collision detection in multiplayer-mode
- garage for unused parts, your cars (up to 5) and rewards
- splitscreen outrun races
- LAN mode, similar to the online mode
- over 20 tunable performance settings
- higher quality aftermarket parts are better, but cost more than low quality parts
- 5 tuning tracks and dyno, to test the tuning settings
- aftermarket parts, which change the engine sound
- you can change the performance settings while driving
- you can save your tuning settings for the different modes (Drift, circuit,...)
- more aggressive opponents, who like to hit you
- drifting with 3 opponents at the same time
